Because we are His

“Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear their threats; do not be frightened.” But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. For it is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.” ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭3:13-18‬ ‭NIV‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/111/1pe.3.13-18.NIV Hello, It might help each of us to reflect on “who “ will harm us that is committed to doing good. For sure at times harm is intended and pointed at us but look close at v14. We are blessed when we suffer because we are His! How do I know this is true? V.15 tells us to be prepared and while we pray, study, and praise we are reminded that is because we are His! How should I respond? V.16 tells us with gentleness and respect. How? Because we are His! But what about the suffering? V.17 Better to be on this side of suffering while doing good than the other. Why is this so personal? Because we are His. Why is it so hard so often ? V.18  Christ suffered for us. Us the unrighteous. So that we can be near God. So we can be made clean. So that we can be free.
Why?
Why us?
Because we are His
